Application for Summer and Fall 2026 Cohort
Our modules are always in revision, and our program is dynamic. Things can change, as that is how we remain in best practice and continued relevance.
Here are some the resources used in our modules
The Ecology of our Community Chaplaincy Framework
This framework outlines the 12 core skills and essentials of the Order of Hildegard model for practicing community chaplaincy. Community chaplaincy in the Order of Hildegard is rooted in the cultivation of viriditas: the greening vitality that nourishes spiritual and communal life.
Chaplains develop capacities that support vital relationship with self, others, and the wider community. Drawing inspiration from Hildegard of Bingen’s vision of harmony within creation, this competency model emphasizes discernment (discretio), humility (humilitas), wisdom (sapientia), and relational harmony (symphonia) as guiding virtues for spiritual leadership.
Healthy chaplaincy is not just skill development. It is the cultivation of spiritual vitality that allows others to flourish.
When Order of Hildegard chaplains integrate these capacities and competencies, viriditas flows through community life.
The Framework and Competencies with Associated Modules is Here
The cohort is collaborative in nature, and while we are a widespread community of practice, the participants become a source of deep connection and growth to one another. We do have opportunities to gather in person and our cohorts look forward to it.
You will want to prioritize the live meetings, which occur at varied times, chosen by polls. We learn together. This is how we develop a non-authoritarian, consent-driven ethic. The program is 2 years, 2-4 hours a week on average.
The initial cohorts are meant for those who like the idea of being a part of a growing organization and are willing to be more flexible with a developing process, while among the early leadership of the community, if they choose that path.
You can work full-time and easily complete the program. Some nights and weekends will be necessary as well as some independent work.
Upon completion, you may choose to apply for ordination in person at our Greening Conference or virtually. Ordained Chaplains in good standing must continue to support the organization through manageable membership and/or volunteerism and participate in community life. You may alternatively choose a Community Chaplaincy Certificate with or without ongoing affiliation.
If you are interested, fill out the application to hold a spot early and we will respond promptly.
